Our Story

In early 1998, Dr. Mike Whitson, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church Indian Trail, began to sense a leading from the Lord to plant another campus on the eastern end of Union County. He shared this vision with the church, and about 25 people who lived in that area immediately responded with an interest to help. After several months of training, these faithful servants became the start of East Campus.

On September 13, 1998, the first service was held in a leased building midway between Marshville and Wingate that FBCIT renovated into a church facility.  Well over 100 people attended the first service.  Rev. Jack Little was the first campus Pastor.

In September 2001, East Campus moved into its present address at 6140 West Marshville Blvd in Marshville, NC.  Over the years, God has used different Pastor’s to help facilitate His purpose and plan for East Campus. Their talents, gifts, and abilities surrendered to the hand of a mighty God were an immeasurable part in helping the church to become what it is now. Today, East Campus is a multi-generational, multi-ethnic church of one race loving and leading everyone we meet into an everyday walk with Christ. And we can’t wait to see what else God is going to do in the life of this great church.
